Answer detail, inference, vocabulary, and main idea questions
Sometimes match headings
Sometimes choose which paragraph contains information
UNIVERSAL METHOD FOR TASK 3
Use the S.P.Q.R Method
S – Scan questions
P – Paragraph topic
Q – Question keywords
R – Return and find answer
This method works for almost every Task 3.
HOW TASK 3 WORKS
Passage structure usually:
Paragraph A → Introduction
Paragraph B → Idea 1
Paragraph C → Idea 2
Paragraph D → Idea 3
Paragraph E → Conclusion / extra info
Each paragraph usually has one main idea.
So instead of reading everything deeply, students should:
Read paragraph topic → Then answer questions

TASK 3 STEP-BY-STEP STRATEGY
Step 1 – Read paragraph headings / first sentence
Understand topic of each paragraph.
Step 2 – Read questions
Underline:

reasons

Step 3 – Go to correct paragraph
Find keyword → read that part carefully.
