CELPIP READING TASK 2 – COMPLETE GUIDE
CELPIP READING TASK 2 – COMPLETE GUIDE
Reading to Apply a Diagram
This is the task where:
You read a notice / article / information
You also see a diagram / schedule / map / chart / rules
You must match information from text to the diagram
Students usually find this confusing because they try to read everything.
So we need a method.
USE THE K.I.M. METHOD FOR TASK 2
K – Keywords
I – Identify section
M – Match information
This works for most Task 2 questions.
WHAT HAPPENS IN TASK 2?
You usually see:
Library rules
Course schedule
Gym membership plans
Tour schedule
Event timetable
Office layout
Company departments
Workshop schedule
Volunteer schedule
Museum map
University course options
Then questions like:
Which class should Sarah take?
Where should the visitor go first?
Which plan is best for John?
Which department handles refunds?
Which day should he attend?
So you must match person’s situation → correct option.
TASK 2 STEP-BY-STEP STRATEGY
Step 1 – Read the question first
Find:
name
time
day
price
requirement
condition
goal
These are keywords.
Step 2 – Scan the diagram / schedule
Look for:
days
times
prices
rules
locations
requirements
Step 3 – Match keywords with correct option
That is why method is:
KIM METHOD
Keywords → Identify → Match
